T.M.S.F.
Thurman Mitchell Scholarship Fund (T.M.S.F.) equips emerging minority leaders to excel in the fields of media, journalism, communication, radio broadcasting, news broadcasting, youth development, ministry, criminal justice, and film by providing financial assistance and leadership opportunities in the Kansas City area.

Must be a U.S.Citizen

Must live in the Kansas City Metro Area

Must be 16-26 yrs of age

Students must be identified as a member of a federally recognized minority which includes students whose ethnicity is African American, Native American, Hispanic, or Pacific Islander.

Must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours)

Requirements

Must submit a video/audio/written project that explains who you are and how you want to empower youth in their community.

All video/audio submissions must be 2-7 min long
-
All written projects must be 500-1000 words
-
Must be an original work
-
Cannot include copyrighted material (music, videos, etc...)

The student must be the prominent voice/personality in the work
-
No profanity, promotion of violence, or sexual content allowed

Must be submitted with the application

Two letters of recommendation that show a connection between the individual’s community work and their life goals along with examples of their strong motivation and potential for success.
-
Commit to 4 hrs of community service in the Kansas City area during the summer prior to the awarded school year
